Drivers should watch out for closures or lane restrictions in the Valley this weekend.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place.
Westbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Interstate 17 and 51st Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday (March 20) for pavement repairs. Westbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues closed. I-17 north- and southbound ramps to westbound Loop 101 also closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate westbound routes, including Yorkshire Drive, Rose Garden Lane or Deer Valley Road.
Grand Avenue (US 60) closed between Loop 303 and R.H. Johnson/Sunrise boulevards from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday (March 20) for bridge work. DETOUR: Loop 303 and Bell Road will serve as primary detour routes. Please allow extra travel time and consider other alternate routes if possible.
East- and westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) ramps to southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 21) for bridge work and lane striping. DETOUR: Drivers on Loop 101 can exit to southbound Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard and use Union Hills Drive to connect with southbound State Route 51.
Northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday (March 19) and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 21) for bridge work and lane striping. DETOUR: Drivers on northbound State Route 51 can exit to westbound Union Hills Drive and use northbound Cave Creek Road to connect with westbound Loop 101.
Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) on-ramp at McDowell Road and off-ramp at McKellips Road closed from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday (March 20) for rubberized asphalt paving. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Thomas Road and off-ramp at McDowell Road closed from 11 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday (March 20) for rubberized asphalt paving. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use other nearby ramps.
Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane overnight between McDowell and Indian School roads from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 21) for pavement repair. Both I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 at the “Stack” interchange closed. Northbound I-17 on-ramp at McDowell Road and northbound off- and on-ramps at Thomas Road closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including northbound 19th and 35th avenues.
