A few Valley freeways will see closures or restrictions this weekend for improvement projects, so drivers need to plan ahead. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Indian Bend Road and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for rubberized asphalt paving. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Chaparral Road and McDonald Drive will also be closed. Expect heavy traffic and delays. DETOUR: Please consider alternate freeway routes, including westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to northbound State Route 51, or northbound Interstate 17, to connect with Loop 101. Northbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at Indian Bend Road will detour west to northbound Hayden Road and can re-enter Loop 101 via Cactus Road, but backups are expected. Note: East Valley fans traveling to Sunday evening’s Cardinals-Patriots game in Glendale should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid this weekend’s northbound Loop 101 closure.

Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Estrella Parkway and Sarival Avenue, near Loop 303, from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for rubberized asphalt paving. Westbound I-10 off- and on-ramps at Estrella Parkway closed. Westbound I-10 exits at Litchfield Road and Bullard Avenue open. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including westbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to travel beyond the work zone and access I-10 via Citrus or Perryville roads. Note: Westbound I-10 off-ramp at Sarival Avenue closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12).

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Power and Gilbert roads in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for rubberized asphalt paving. Westbound Loop 202 on- and off-ramps also closed in the area. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including westbound McDowell Road, to access local cross streets while freeway ramps are closed.

Southbound Interstate 17 off-ramp at 7th Avenue closed from 4 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12) for city of Phoenix waterline project. DETOUR: Consider alternate southbound exits, including 7th Street.

Eastbound Grand Avenue (US 60) narrowed to one lane overnight at Camelback Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 10) for bridge work. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.
