ASU scientists monitoring growing algae concern across Arizona as resources decline

Advocating for safe and efficient clean water, celebrating the work scientists are doing to help our communities

As algae blooms in our canals, it can reduce the efficiency of water flow, create odors, and cause taste issues. However, a scientist and his team at Arizona State University are using solar-powered sensors to detect these blooms in real time in order to see the problems as they are coming.

However, algae growth was historically only an issue in the warm summers, that is, until now.
