MOST ACCURATE FORECAST: Dangerous heat isn't going anywhere this week

and last updated

PHOENIX — Happy Fourth of July! The dangerous heat is here to stay this week.

High pressure is building in and is bringing hot and dry afternoons the rest of the week.

Phoenix will be flirting with record highs throughout the week as temperatures range between 110-116 degrees all the way through early next week.

Excessive Heat Warnings have now been extended through Friday night.

Therefore, these days will be ABC15 Weather Action Days. That means it's time to take action to keep you and your family safe.

Heat is the number one weather-related killer. So, limit your time outside during the hottest part of the day and stay hydrated. Keep an eye on kids and the elderly, who can be the most affected by this heat, and bring your pets inside too!

Fire danger will also return to northern Arizona by Thursday. Fire Weather Watches have been issued for parts of the high country due to hot temps, low humidity and breezy conditions. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged.

Ozone High Pollution Advisories are also in effect for the Phoenix metro area today through Wednesday as our air quality gets worse.

Ozone High Pollution Watches are in effect Thursday and Friday and those will likely get upgraded to Advisories too as we get closer.

Limit your time outside in the afternoon as ozone levels are peaking if you have asthma or COPD.
