PHOENIX — It's a hot week in the Valley!
Temperatures have been topping out in the low 100s and we'll remain close to that century mark again today.
Breezes will pick up this afternoon and again on Friday as we track another storm system approaching from the northwest.
That storm system will help improve Valley air quality as winds increase and it will also help drop temperatures a bit across Arizona.
The same storm system will also cause an uptick in fire danger for parts of southeastern Arizona. Fire Weather Watches take effect for this part of the state on Saturday. Remember to obey outdoor burn bans this holiday weekend.
Valley highs will fall into the upper 90s by Friday and stay there through Memorial Day weekend.
Another storm approaches from the west early next week, keeping Valley temperatures in the 90s through at least the first half of the week.
For now, it doesn't look like we'll see any rain in the Valley with this storm, but we could see a few showers pop up in northern Arizona by midweek. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer.
We're also still tracking a Flood Warning in effect for parts of the Gila River in southwestern Arizona as the flow increases due to water releases from the Painted Rock Dam. This warning has now been extended through May 30th. Do not attempt to cross any flooded roadways.
